Weekend Warmup

Okay, so this week went by SO fast. I cannot believe Friday is here already. It has been a big week and an even bigger weekend is ahead of us. I am getting ready for a Birthday tonight for a good friend, a baby shower tomorrow, and then my Mother is completing her lifetime goal of graduating with her Master’s. GO MOM!

Anyways, I lagged a bit on the blog this week and I am going to try and slightly make up for it with some printables. The first is the card I gave Lauren for her girls night out…

Get your copy here: Girls Night Out Cards

Next a sneak peek at some crafting for a Cinco De Mayo brunch and a festive printable

Here are some fun party flags: Cinco De Mayo

Okay, so this wasn’t a huge post. But hopefully it’s just enough to tide us over until after the weekend.

Have a great time! See you Monday!

It’s the weekend (almost)

I plan on taking full advantage of the weather this weekend

Especially with the arrival of my new Gail Z Martin book The Dread.

A quick trip to J.Crew proves to show that I need to CHILL out on blue, especially stripes. Time for some colors changes.

A yummy recipe to try as an late afternoon appetizer paired with a nice cool white wine. (source)

Lastly a sneak peek for next weeks DIY.

Hope you have a bright and cheery weekend!

Wedded Wednesday – Napa Vineyard Beauty

I am completely enthralled with this gorgeous Napa wedding. The invites by Rifle Paper Co., the isle runners complete with ribbons and florals, the rustic tables and chairs, the vibrant flowers, and most of all that beautiful bride. This tuscan themed wedding is just perfection. And the bride’s notes are just too sweet. I literally wish I was friends with her. Check out these lovely photos by Leah McCormick.

Are you as inspired and in love as I am? I bet you are :) Happy love! (via)

Monday Rewind

Hey guys, we are kind of back on track here. There has been a ton going on, but too much to go into detail on right now. So here are a couple snapshots of the weeks we have missed…

It’s been fun & colorful. Just the way we like it.

Also, shout out to Amanda for introducing me to one of my new favorite drinks… The Moscow Mule. You MUST try it! XO

A statement in fuschia

I love the idea of creating a bold statement in a classic room. In this instance the muted dining room and beautiful wood accents are complimented with the addition of the bright dining chairs. I mean, come on, how totally amazing are those chairs? They are so so gorgeous. My search to find them as officially begun. With that said I also dig the small but complimenting bright blue vase.

I will let you know how the search goes. (photo)

DIY Color Dipped Wooden Spoons

I feel like I have been a little spray paint happy lately, BUT this is something I am okay with. I have realized how functional, simple, and cheap spray paint is. So my mind has been filled with colorful ideas… (get that little pun?)

So a while ago I posted about some fabulous spoons by Milk Farm Road

So while I was packing up the vannagon for our dessert trip a couple of weeks ago I stumbled upon a SUPER cheap pack of wooden spoons. I thought why not? So a scooped them up for use over the weekend. And while I was doing some work for my Etsy shop, I pulled out the spoons and went to town.

ps sorry in advance for the cruddy pictures. I am pretty hopeless when it comes to photography. But I am working on it!

So I pulled out my blue matte & neon pink matte paints. Along with some rad painters tape that works great on everything!

Grabbed my awesomely inexpensive test spoons

Wrapped them up. I did about 2/3 of the way up the handle, but it is up to you how much you want painted.

And then sprayed about 2 coats of paint on each.

Let ‘em dry….

Annnnd there you have it. So simple right?

Now I am going to invest in some legit spoons (sorry cheapo store-bought ones) and try some fun ideas.

A sweet 16 party pack gift guide

My cousin turned 16 this past weekend and I was so excited that we had planned to cruise down to the dessert to wish her the happiest sweet 16 ever. She and I have always been close, but over the past couple years she has come and stayed with me for weeks at a time each summer and we have become even closer. She is such a wonderful and beautiful girl and I am so proud of all that she has accomplished these past couple of years. I remember not long ago she was in middle school and asked me to join her for bring your parent to school day. Her parents had work, so she asked them if I could go and it was such an honor. And now she is getting her diver’s license and riding dirt bikes like she a pro.

I wasn’t sure what exactly she would want for her birthday so I put together a fun little pack of goodies I knew she would like. Along with some “do what you want with it” money. Needless to say I think she liked it.

So here is what I did:

I threw together some everyday necessities. Most can be found at your local drug store.

  • Happy Birthday Glasses
  • Neutrogena lip gloss
  • Covergirl Lash Blast
  • Conair bobbypins
  • Ouchless hair bands
  • Eye make up remover pads
  • Essie Over The Edge Nail Color
  • Essie Mezmerised Nail Color
  • A Surprise Check
  • Festive Flair Confetti
  • Bakers Twine
  • Homemade Birthday Card
  • Brown Bakers Box

Pack it all in

Add some fun confetti

Tie it up with a bow and you are done! Pretty simple and easy to add anything you want.

A Super Bash

This is the perfect inspiration for Thomas’s 5th Birthday coming up this July.

What an awesome and creative party we spotted over at The Sweetest Occassion. A fiesta & super hero themed birthday. All of the colors and costumes are so much fun! Definitely needing a reason to make those fun streamer garlands! See the rest of it {here}

Being Festive

This Valentine’s Day I’ll be doing fun silly things with the most wonderful man in the world. My fiance? He has to be in San Diego for his Masters & Thesis. I love him, but a love day with my little man is the best. Especially when we make dinner for grandma and grandpa.

What about you? What are your plans?

What was that? Oh yep! Etsy shop launched!

The Alder Designs Etsy shop is live. After a big week, we are so glad that we hit our goal and set everything up. We will be adding new items daily, but for now we are pretty excited about what we have going on. A lot of it was inspired by Valentine’s Day so we put together a little dessert table inspiration. Major thanks to Ali Winston Photography & Jessica Murray Designs for all their help. They are seriously AMAZING!

Anyways, here is a couple photos of the shoot with our etsy products:

Ooooh so fun. We had the best time putting together all of the treats & and goodies. Pink, glitter, & sparkle… everything nice.

Dig it? We really hope so! Make sure to check it out and grab some last minute Valentine’s Day goodies!
