Spring Fun for I Go You Go’s Bright Ideas Challenge

Miss Amanda over at I Go You Go set up a fun styling challenge for some of us bloggers and I must admit I am slightly lacking on this one. Thomas was home all last week with a nasty cold and my total hours of actual sleep were at maybe 15, I was slow to get this together. First I picked out an outfit I found at our local J.Crew store. Found the outfit, most of the accessories, and had an idea of what I wanted to put together. I even tried on a couple of the items. I came home, decided to put it together, and couldn’t find the dress or belt online. Darn. So for interested minds here is what I started with. . .

Wow how uneven do my boobs look in this picture? Yikes, I apologize. I promise it did not look as terrible as it does in these pictures. Also, yes, that is Thomas. The best way to get him outfit shopping is a trip the Lego store. So he is happily checking out his new Lego Hero Factory Ferno and the catalog. He is the best. Simply the coolest little sidekick ever.

So I changed it up since the dress and belt were MIA on the J.Crew site and came up with this pretty little get up:

This dress is the perfect blue with a little bit of skin. Festive, pretty, and simple.

| MAC Lipstick – Myth |Flo Pink Gumdrop Studs | Royal Blue Folded Clutch | Bobbi Brown Pot Rouge | J.Crew Eyelet Dress | Mona Leather Pump |

For me this color palette works well. . . Especially for spring. A bright pink, a bright blue, and a flattering neutral.

The weekend according to my instagram

The view from my living room was spectacular on Friday while doing some last minute work before the long weekend.

My wheels for the weekend. Our 1985 Volkswagon Westfalia accompanied us to the dessert to meet up with some family.

After hours of playing with his cousins Thomas needed a good nap. I must admit I did too. We cuddled up for an hour or so in the van.  It was so nice and quiet.

Our view from the Westfalia. Mountains of Borrego Springs, CA

Lastly a nice late afternoon drive down the coast was the perfect end to a wonderful weekend.

Weekend Warmup

~ Tonight is Laguna’s Annual hospitality night. Which is one of the greatest nights for this little town. Santa rides through downtown to city hall to light the willow tree, all the stores stay open and offer drinks and treats, kids line up to see santa and explore the candy baron. Overall it is one of the town’s best traditions, for all ages. I remember in junior high this is the night when your crush would ask you to meet them at Jonny Rockets to share a milkshake. Ah the nostalgia.

Tonight is extra special because our very own Laguna Beach High School Football team is up against our longtime CDM rival in the CIF semifinals. Needless to say tomorrow has got spirit for this wonderful little town of ours and my family and I plan to revel in it.

~ Next is some fun wedding crafting and getting ready for a meeting with our wedding planner! Here is a inspiration board I threw together…

~ Lastly, a fun weekend look I put together. I am now shopping for the perfect leather jacket… if only I looked good in black…

Bonne Weekend my loves!

p.s. who wants to braid my hair this way?

Holiday Gift Guide

Happy Birthday to the most kind, generous, talented, intelligent, & loving man I have ever met. I feel so grateful to have you in my life. Our family is such a beautiful thing & we are so lucky to have each other. This year not only will you graduate with your masters but we will begin our journey as husband & wife. I am filled with an enormous amount of glee when I think of having the honor of being your wife and the mother to our current & future children. I hope today & this year is everything you dream of and more. I love you.

Now and forever

For the little ones in your life

Poppy are a small chain of children’s stores in Brentwood and Marin that has the cutest little outfits and gifts.

Poppy Store was founded by Jenny Belushi and Heather Whitney Rosenfield, two mothers who became friends and bonded over their young children and shared love of design.  In response to a need they found in shopping for their own kids, they decided to open the first Poppy Store at the Brentwood Country Mart in Santa Monica, California, in February of 2008. In February of 2011, they opened their second location at the Marin Country Mart, in Larkspur, California.

Ms. Belushi lives in Brentwood California with her husband, actor Jim Belushi, and their two children, Jamison and Jared.  Ms. Rosenfield lives in Ross, California, with her husband real estate developer and Country Mart proprietor James Rosenfield, their newborn son Alden and big brothers Finley and Truman.

And how cute is the store logo. I love it!

All Grown Up

As Thomas starts his first day of Pre-K, I am feeling slightly sullen. I am totally excited for him and all of the fun adventures this new year will bring. But I cannot help but to feel like time is taking advantage of us. He is growing so fast it feels like just yesterday he spend 8 hours a day sleeping on my chest only whinning when he was hungry. And here we are, Pre-K. Your parents always tell you that time flies but it’s never until you are dying for more time with that little one in your life when you truly understand how precious it all is. It’s like being in love but good and better.

So I as I walk my sweet little bit of everything into his first day of Pre-K I am so thankful for all the time we have had together and look forward to all of the wonderful adventures to come.

My heart just bursts.
