Happy Love Day!
We had a nice morning around here. I got up early and made pancakes for Thomas and my version of eggs Benedict for Matt & I.
Thomas and I are playing around on our apple gadgets for a while and then we will go on some kind of adventure before I begin cooking dinner.
Hope you have an amazing day. Full of love, kindness, & joy.
XOXO,

Being Festive
This Valentine’s Day I’ll be doing fun silly things with the most wonderful man in the world. My fiance? He has to be in San Diego for his Masters & Thesis. I love him, but a love day with my little man is the best. Especially when we make dinner for grandma and grandpa.
What about you? What are your plans?
J.Crew in wonderful colors
It’s no surpirse that I am posting about J.Crew because I love them. Everything about them. In fact I love them so much that I have kept the first sweater that I ever bought from them. Purchased in 2003, a salmon pink jackie sweater. I still wear it to this day. So of course I am completely enamored with their new Spring collection.
AND… This is pretty much how I feel about all of it…
Weekend Warmup
PHEW. What a week. It flew by. BUT it was a huge week. Met great people, connected with some awesome bloggers, did a wonderful valentines shoot, and prepared to launch our etsy shop. Pretty sweet, right?
Here are some fun personal shots of the shoot yesterday with Ali from Ali Winston Photography & Jessi from Jessica Murray Designs.
So much sparkle it makes me smile.
I have also found my new favorite festive nail color.
Essie’s Watermelon is the perfect color for V-Day. A seriously bright pink. I love it.
I cannot explain how much I love this collage of photos. It is a simple but wonderful way to document your little one joining the world. Something to keep in mind for our next one. {source}
The perfect wedding table inspiration.
This is beyond perfect. A must send to the wedding planner!
Have a lovely weekend and stay tuned for the launch of Alder Designs Etsy shop later today (hopefully)!

- 3 1/2 x 6 3/4-inch brown paper bags
- small hole punch
- red and white kitchen twin
- Download template
- Format printer to print onto dimensions of brown paper bags, and print directly into bags.
- Fill with granola (see recipe below) and fold top of bag over about 1-inch. Punch two holes through the fold, and secure with kitchen twine.
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
- 3 3/4 cups rolled oats (12 ounces)
- 3 ounces finely grated unsweetened coconut (1 cup)
- 6 ounces shelled raw pistachios (1 cup)
- 6 ounces slivered almonds (1 cup)
- 1 cup fresh orange juice
- 5 ounces dried apricots (1 cup)
- 3 ounces golden raisins (1/2 cup)
- 3 ounces chopped dried apple slices (1/2 cup)
- Preheat the oven to 275°. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with parchment paper. In a medium saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar, honey, cinnamon, vanilla and salt and bring to a simmer, stirring until the brown sugar is dissolved, about 2 minutes. Let cool slightly.
- In a very large bowl, toss the oats with the coconut, pistachios and almonds. Add the warm brown sugar mixture and stir to coat thoroughly. Spread the granola on the baking sheet and bake for 1 hour and 15 minutes, stirring once or twice, until golden.
- Meanwhile, in a medium bowl, pour the orange juice over the dried fruit and let stand until plumped, about 1 hour.
- Drain the dried fruit, pressing to extract the liquid; discard the liquid. Stir the fruit into the granola and bake for 5 minutes. Let cool completely; the granola will crisp as it cools.

Tinted Lip Balm ~ A DIY
Spotted and hearted. We LOVE this simple but lovely tutorial on homemade tinted lip balm.
Delia Create’s Pink Tinted Lip Balm
2 TBSP grated beeswax
2 TBSP coconut oil
2 tsp. sweet almond oil
chunk of red lipstick

Melt all but essentail oil in a doubleboiler until completely melted and there are no more beewax flakes.
Do not boil or overheat. Stir with a throw away tool like a bamboo skewer.
Remove from heat and add essential oil. Using a syringe or medicne dropper fill your lip balm containers.
Let it sit at room temperature or in the fridge until hardened or opaque.
