My niece (not actual niece, but I consider her this) celebrated her first birthday this past weekend and I was so excited to do something special for her!

So I made her a very pink, very girly birthday garland…

Unfortunately, we were so busy celebrating I didn’t get many decent pictures except for some quick snaps on my iphone. Anyways, it was a cinch to make…

Tools

Materials

  • 81/2 by 11 thick stock paper
  • Ribbon
  • Glitter

Steps

  1. First I took each piece of paper and folded in half. Then cut off the edges to make a triangle so long edge is about 5 1/4 inches.
  2. Once all are folded and cut into triangles the can easy fold over the ribbon. Leave about 3 to 4 inches of ribbon on the end and glue the ribbon onto the back of the first piece and then glue the entire piece together. Continue until all of your desired triangles are glued.
  3. Then trace the letters with pencil and fill in with glitter glue. Cover the glued letter/number/symbol with glue and dust off any remaining glitter.
  4. I added balloons on the ends of the one I made so I punched out my balloons and covered each in glue, then glitter, dust them off and then glue them to the garland. Obviously, you do not need the balloon punch for this.
  5. Et voilà. Hang it up in desired place and you are done.
