Father’s Day Tattoo Printables

Since discovering Silhouette’s Printable tattoo paper a few years back I’ve been a bit obsessed with making my own tattoos. I made them for My Bachelorette 1 & My Bachelorette 2, Tom’s 5th Birthday and his Tball party just to name a few. So I thought why not make some more, no harm right? See what I mean about being obsessed?

Anyways, I thought it would be fun to make some tattoos in honor of Father’s Day. Something that dad wouldn’t mind wearing and something that strayed from the ever popular heart with dad across it.

I put together a couple designs that anyone in the family can wear to give dad a little shout out.

Of course, the person who has the most fun with these is Thomas. I definitely didn’t have more fun than my 5 year old… I’ll just keep telling myself that.

Steps:

1. Take your Silhouette Tattoo paper and print on the glossy side of the white sheet.

2. Once the ink is dry carefully remove the clear paper from the green backing sheet and apply to the top of the printed tattoo page.

3. Press down hard, but carefully to remove any air bubbles and to get the plastic cover tight.

4. Cut out tattoos. If you have the Cameo Cutter you will need to use the steps for that. I used regular old scissors.

5. Apply! Remove plastic covering, place tattoo on desired location, hold a damp cloth to it for 10 to 20 seconds.

Thomas took that picture. It’s pretty good right? I think there is a huge probability he has better photography skills than I do.

Hope you enjoy the printables! If you print them make sure to take a snapshot on instagram and tag me @emilyalder or you can email me pictures and I can feature them next week! I’d love to see what you do with yours!

Happy Father’s Day!

Marvelous Me Week

Last month Thomas was Marvelous Me at Kindergarten. The week was spent bringing in his favorite books, toys, and a few posters we made. The first day was picture of family and friends

The second day was a poster about his favorite things

It was a pretty big job for him to write all of that out. It took a while but he powered through it. I was pretty impressed and may or may not have rewarded him with a popsicle. I love that his favorite song choice was Do Re Mi, you know the one from Sound of Music? It’s something I sing to him at night before sleep and I was surprised that he chose it over the ever popular Gangnam Style.

Our favorite part of the week was the parent visit. Matt and I put together a little something for all the kids. Matt was going to talk about his work in architecture while I helped the kids build popsicle stick houses.

I went to the dollar store and picked up some plain and colorful popsicle sticks, colored paper, craft glue and goodies for the kids.

I’m sad to report we didn’t get any pictures of the kids creating the houses. We only had 30 minutes and were too busy playing with the kids to snap any pictures. A good friend who teaches at the school came by and got this snapshot of us presenting

After our presentation each of the students got a little something from Thomas

I taped some of Trader Joe’s Salt Water Taffy and Trader Joe’s Organic Lollipops with a little note from Thomas.

Mother’s Day Gift Basket

Mother’s Day is just around the corner and I’ve put together a simple gift basket for my garden loving mom. This time of year my mom is out in the garden as long as possible on Saturdays and Sundays.

I put this together in a single day with some gifts I knew my mother would love to have around during gardening season.

Hand painted linen towels, Hyacinth Seeds, Ocean Blossom Votives, Gardenmis Lavender Sachets, Lollia Wish Hand Creme, Rifle Paper Co. Garden Calendar, Corsica Stripe Shawl

I also threw in a couple of freshly cut roses from mom’s garden so she can see what all her hard work has created.

I have to give a shout out to Amazon Prime, because half of the items came with free 2-day shipping. Who can say no to that!

What are your plans for Mother’s Day? We are planning brunch at a local restaurant and a fun day in the sun.

Mother’s Day Gift Idea – Hand Painted Linen Towels

Mother’s Day is Sunday, I’m pretty sure you knew that, so let’s get to the good stuff. Not only are we celebrating Mother’s day this weekend, but it is also Teacher Appreciation week.

For both occasions I  am putting together some gifts for my mom and Thomas’s teacher. For each special lady we are making some hand painted towels.

In my experience, this is always a great gift for any one who spends time cooking. They are inexpensive to make and you can always use another dish towel. Linen is so resilient and gets softer with age, you really can’t go wrong. I am always running out of dish towels. They, combined with pot holders are my least favorite things to wash. So really, I can never have too many of these simple dish towels.

Supplies:

Linen Flour Sack Towels - like these

Martha Stewart Multi-Surface Satin Acrylic Paint – I used Deep Sea

Paintbrush

Painters Tape

Newspaper/Craft Paper

Like I said, this is a simple DIY gift and can be put together in less than an hour.

Steps:

Set up your drop clothe or whatever you are using to make sure your paint doesn’t get everywhere.

Once you have that secured, measure out your painters tape and line it up with your towel. There are all kinds of configurations you can put together with the tape. Design freedom, doesn’t it feel good?

Make sure the tape is tight on the towel to stop the paint from bleeding.

Once the tape is on paint away.

Let the paint dry and remove the tape.

I usually make sure to wash the towels beforehand and let them sit in the sun for a while after I am finished.

Another great thing about this project is that it’s kid friendly. If a parent sets up the tape, the kids will have a blast painting and helping you to create the gift.
