Weekend Away: Palm Springs

We are heading to Palm Springs for the long weekend tomorrow. A long awaited vacay for the whole family. We are taking over a beautiful vacation rental complete with a salt water pool, spa, and bbq. Which is pretty much all we need. Shacking up with my sister and her boyfriend and our parents we are fully prepared for a relaxing weekend by the pool.

I’ve been planning this weekend for a little over two months. A bit over zealous I know, but we all needed this. In preparation I have done some strategic shopping, taking advantage of the sales floating around. Here is a preview of my weekend uniform…

Currently Crushing – Rachel Rose

Wanna talk about something really beautiful? I do.

It’s Rachel Rose’s Fashion Collection. While doing some research for a project I stumbled upon Rachel’s work and instantly fell in love. The colors, fabrics, and style are all breathtaking. There is so much femininity and visual satisfaction, her collection is tangible. I literally want to see and feel it on my skin.

Easter Dress Picks

One of my favorite things about Easter is the opportunity to scoop up a proper frock to celebrate Spring. Though we normally have a mellow day on Easter this year we will be celebrating with Matt’s family in the small town of Wayne, Nebraska. I’ve been looking through some of my favorite stores for a dress that would work for an early brunch. Here some looks I have had my eye on…

Easter look 1 // Could Be Interesting

Scalloped Trim Dress  Linen Lined Blazer  Cutaway Pumps

Easter Look 2 // Could Be Interesting

Easter Look 4 // Could Be Interesting

It should be a bit chilly while we are visiting so we will have to be sure to pack some tights and an extra jacket.

It’s usually around this time of year (aka Valentines Day) that my mind starts getting fuzzy with love. Remember those days looking across the blacktop at the boy you like thinking, I wonder if he likes me too? It’s fun to think back on those moments and how easy love was. It was inspired and simple, but also was the biggest deal to our little hearts.

Looking around I see more beauty in things and feel a warmth in my heart. When I think of the word romance and what it means to me I think: love, generosity  warmth, elegance, delicacy, & dreaming. While roaming around pinterest I saw a picture of a woman in a incredibly glamorous dress walking through a field (above) and it inspired me. It represents a part of love and how big something can make you feel with the simplest of thoughts.

I might sound crazy. But hey, I kind of really love love…

Valentines Day Outfit

So Valentines Day is next week… Do you know what you are wearing? We don’t have any major plans so I will probably be in some workout gear, but that doesn’t mean a girl can’t dream. Mine came in the form of a fabulous lace skirt from Anthro (big surprise there). Anyways here is a flirty little outfit I put together, maybe one of these days I will actually get it on.

Currently Crushing – Emerson Made

It’s been pretty chilly around these parts lately. I know that sounds wimpy  but when you live at the beach you get used to beach weather. I remember January’s spent down at West Street Beach, not freezing inside.

I will say the one advantage to the cold weather is wearing warm winter clothes. Something that Southern California residents don’t get to do each winter. While looking at some wool shawls, camel coats and blazers I developed quite the wish list from Emerson Made’s Fall line.

This Weekend, Briefly

Instagram-113

I am not sure if this weekend actually happened. I mean did we actually get that full 48 hours? I am not so sure. But here Monday is again.

Friday Matt and I did some house hunting in CDM and Laguna. Driving by the chilly, but picturesque coast reminded me why I love my home so much. We make some sacrifices in order to live here in Laguna, but it is oh so worth it.

Saturday was spent around the house and then an afternoon at the park. I got to test out my calligraphy kit from Linea Carta which I will post more about later this week and got my craft on while Matt tested out the new Assassins Creed.

And finally Sunday I spend 9 hours in the kitchen making a special Birthday meal for my sister and her boyfriend  Taylor. Their Birthdays are just a day apart. How fun is that? So I made Julia Child’s Boeuf Bourguignon & some lavender Creme Brûlée. They were pretty delicious.

And lastly I drooled over Kerry Washington’s getup at the Golden Globes…
